We Serve
Jefferson believes it is called as a church, each member, to help those in need. We offer many choices so that your heart is aligned with your passion. Below is a list of some of our outreaches. Search our calendar to see upcoming events.
ONGOING: Jefferson | FEEDS - We provide monthly food deliveries to HOPE Ministries in North Baton Rouge and St. John's UMC Shepherd's Market on Highland. We encourage the congregation to bring a nonperishable item each time they come on campus. We deliver of 250lbs each month. Plus we have seasonal collections, such as Lenten PB&J drive and baby items.
Groceries: Every time you shop for groceries, purchase an extra item. Are you a baker? Pick flour, sugar, or corn meal. Have children? Let your child pick an item that a hungry child could enjoy. Or, grab the basics, like canned fruit, canned veggies, canned meats, rice/beans and boxed dinners.
Passion for cooking? We provide lunches and dinners to mission projects. Plus, we’ll need sweets, like cookies and muffins, to raise mission funds. It’s our hope to support Shepherd’s Market’s Ministry Breakfast on Tuesdays & Thursdays.
We can never have too many helpers. You can serve by helping us get food to the people. Don’t worry, there’ll be more to do!
We welcome your support and suggestions. Opportunities are for all ages. Contact Laurie Holden.

Pumpkin Patch - Our largest mission project during the year, every October our adjacent field is filled with pumpkins! Grown on an Indian reservation, we are allowed to keep proceeds which are then given to mission projects locally.
Youth Mission Trip - Annually our junior and senior high students earn money, with the help of our congregation, travel to serve those in need. We announce our trip location in the winter. Every other year, we plan an international trip.
Habitat for Humanity - Once or twice a year, JUMC takes a Saturday of the local Methodist build to lend a hand with help and lunch.
Open Air Ministry - Each month we support the local Baton Rouge downtown ministry of providing a lunch and take part in the Sunday worship for the homeless community.
Angel Tree - During the Christmas season we purchase a gift for a child with an incarcerated parent. The parent makes the suggestion and the gift is given to the child on their behalf.
Teddy Bear Sunday - On a Sunday during Advent, we collect stuffed teddy bears for BraveHeart, a local non profit that provides a backpack with essentials and a teddy bear to children who are taken out of their home by child services.
...and the list will grow as the need grows!
