Poverty Awareness Sessions Start this Week

This week we kick off a series on the importance of understanding poverty and the voices in need. Once we know the issues and challenges, we can begin to make a change. Sessions start at 6:45pm in the Fellowship Hall. Dinner before at 6pm. Nursery available.
Wed, 8/12: “My Story-Myths and Facts of Poverty” with JUMC's Mary Cornelius and Bora Sunseri, Social Worker, plus Murelle Harrison, Executive Director of the Gardere Initiative
Wed, 8/19: “Beyond the Food Pantry: A Glimpse into the Dynamics of Poverty” Janet Simmons, HOPE Ministries CEO & Exec. Director
Wed, 8/26: “hunger + homelessness=hopelessness: Effects of Poverty on Children’s Learning Experience” with Kyra Luckett from YWCA Early Head Start, and Nancy Zito & Cheryl Lott from the Gardere Christian Community School.
Wed, 9/2: “Voices of Compassion- Focus on Community & Partnerships - Each One, Reach One” with Karen Lee, S. Burbank Crime Prevention and Development District, with others from partner organizations.
